JOIN THE COMMUNITY-WIDE EFFORT
TO LIGHT UP THE PARK!

After countless hours of volunteer effort, consistent support from the City of Lafayette, the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and The Community Foundation of Lafayette (CFL), the iconic Park Theater is now owned by The Park Theater Trust on behalf of the entire community.

Now the push is on to raise the final $3 million necessary to renovate this historic, much-loved cinema into an accessible, inclusive, community-centered cultural hub for patrons of all ages. Our goal is to have a grand re-opening in 2026.

The re-imagined Park Theater will be the first and only cinema art house of its kind this side of the Caldecott Tunnel, bringing an elevated level of culture and entertainment to Lamorinda, Contra Costa County, and beyond.

Lights, Cameras, Action!

The iconic Art Deco Park Theater will again be the centerpiece of Lafayette.

Reopening the Park Theater consistently ranks in the top 4 community concerns — a priority of citizens, local business, and the City. As an anchor of a revitalized town center, the Park will become a magnet – a center for newly released Hollywood movies and classics, independent and foreign films, and creative programming to appeal to all ages. The time is NOW for the Park Theater to resume its rightful place in this newly vibrant scene and shine again in the role for which it was created: Entertaining and engaging the entire Lafayette community.

Our Mission

To restore and operate Lafayette’s iconic Park Theater building and revitalize it into an accessible and inclusive, community-centered cinema, arts and culture hub with programming that includes critically acclaimed films, throwback favorites, and engaging non-film events.

LEADERSHIP

The Park Theater has a new champion

Initially called together as a volunteer task force by the City of Lafayette, The Park Theater Trust (TPPT) is a 501(c)(3) Public Benefit corporation. In April 2019, we were awarded seed monies by the Community Foundation of Lafayette (CFL), and in February 2020, we received our formal determination letter from the IRS confirming our tax-exempt status. TPTT has since been the recipient of six additional Excellence Grants by CFL. Primarily due to private donations and grants from family foundations, CLF and other institutions including the City of Lafayette, TPTT raised the $3 million required to purchase the Park Theater property for the community, and closed escrow in December 2021.

Who We Are

THE PUSH IS ON TO REOPEN in 2026

For the Park Theater’s operator, TPTT is teaming up with Adam Bergeron and Jaimi Holker of CinemaSF, highly regarded for their passion for historic cinemas and community-focused mix of first-run art/indie films, new Hollywood releases and classics, live music and other eclectic events. This will be CinemaSF’s first foray into the East Bay cultural scene.

Walt Disney famously stated, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” NOW is our ONCE and FOREVER opportunity to bring this dream, this cultural icon, back to life for ALL of us.

Please join The Park Theater Trust and together, let’s light up the Park and light up Lafayette!
