On behalf of the all-volunteer Park Theater Trust (TPTT), we invite you to participate in sponsoring The Park Theater Benefit Golf Tournament hosted by BALI Construction, to be held Monday, August 28, 2023 at one of northern California’s finest golf courses, Orinda Country Club.
Primarily due to private donations and grants from family foundations and other institutions, in December 2021, TPTT, a 501(c)(3) Public Benefit Corporation, raised the $3 million required to purchase the Park Theater building for the community. Now the push is on to renovate Lafayette’s historic, one-screen Park Theater into a sustainable two-screen cinema, music, and rental venue – with Lafayette’s only rooftop terrace – that will be enjoyed for generations. The goal is to open by Holiday 2024.
This event pairs two iconic East Bay gems – the Park Theater and Orinda Country Club – and is sure to be a great day of golf and entertainment in support of a community-wide effort with far-reaching cultural and economic impact for the entire region.
Designed by William Watson during the “Golden Age” of golf course architecture in the 1920s, Orinda remains a classic Watson design following its renovation in 2015 by Todd Eckenrode. Featuring wide and rolling fairways, relatively small greens with gentle contours, and beautiful bunkering, it plays at approximately 6,400 yards and par 71 (par 74 for women) amidst historic oaks and sycamores that border the course. No two holes are alike, and players will find the course to be one of the most challenging and interesting of Northern California’s many classic-era designs.
