Lafayette’s Park Theater was —
and is — a community gem...
A classic example of Art Deco’s international offshoot, Streamline Moderne, in the 1940s the Park’s iconic façade beckoned moviegoers into a showcase of the latest and greatest Hollywood films. Seats were custom designed for comfort, concessions consistently popular. Although few records remain, the Park was a community draw for decades.
Reopening the Park Theater consistently ranks in the top 4 community concerns — a priority of citizens, local business, and the city as we work together to revitalize downtown. Our History
The Park Theater has a new champion
The Park Theater Trust (TPPT) is a volunteer committee of over 50 Lafayette citizens and representatives of community organizations, with an oversight Steering Committee of 6 members. In April 2019, we were awarded seed monies by the Lafayette Community Foundation and we have applied with the California Secretary of State to form a Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Public Benefit Corporation.Who We Are
To restore and operate Lafayette’s iconic Park Theater building and revitalize it into an accessible and inclusive, community-centered cinema, arts and culture hub with programming that includes critically acclaimed films, throwback favorites, and engaging non-film events.
